Villain Concept

I have an idea for a mad scientist type that has decided that mankind is far too weak to deserve its dominance. He reasoned that if a newborn kitten and a human infant were both tossed into the wilderness, the human baby would certainly die, but the kitten, able to walk and potentially even feed itself, could survive. How could this be acceptable if human beings were as cunning and powerful as history suggests?

So he's been selectively breeding children in isolation, forcing newborn infants to survive or die in a controlled environment. Hundreds have died. Over decades, he began to see results. Like other animals, his "superhumans" began to be born with the ability to walk, feed themselves, and even display basic hunting instincts. The isolation trials became more intense and more involved. Dozens of promising specimens died.

To be continued...

Requiem for a Dream, Chapter Two: The Swamp of Fears

CHAPTER TWO
The Swamp of Fears

Squelsh seems like the most appropriate word. The smell of months old ichor, rot, and death pervades the air. As he awakens, viscous slime crawls over Xaphnos’ hands, knees, elbows, and legs; it grabs at his chest and lurches sickeningly toward his face. With a start he stumbles haphazardly backward, sloshing through muck over a foot deep. Suddenly recognition lights over his face. The Swamp of Fears. One of Kallith’s tricks. Do not believe her lies, friends. Do not believe.

STEVE ROGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA
(Thought narration)
We were so close to becoming heroes. We were so close.
It was to be a baptism by fire – gunfire, hellfire, all the same.
After it was over, we would be remembered by the world as the men that SAVED FREEDOM in the East.
