Villain Concept

I have an idea for a mad scientist type that has decided that mankind is far too weak to deserve its dominance. He reasoned that if a newborn kitten and a human infant were both tossed into the wilderness, the human baby would certainly die, but the kitten, able to walk and potentially even feed itself, could survive. How could this be acceptable if human beings were as cunning and powerful as history suggests?

So he's been selectively breeding children in isolation, forcing newborn infants to survive or die in a controlled environment. Hundreds have died. Over decades, he began to see results. Like other animals, his "superhumans" began to be born with the ability to walk, feed themselves, and even display basic hunting instincts. The isolation trials became more intense and more involved. Dozens of promising specimens died.

To be continued...

PAGE 1
Captain America carries Black Widow over his shoulder as he follows the Handler running through the sewers, rubble still falling behind him from the linoleum floor they’d just smashed their way through.
“Where the hell does it lead?” Cap asks the man in the lab coat.

Requiem for a Dream, Chapter Two: The Swamp of Fears

CHAPTER TWO
The Swamp of Fears

Squelsh seems like the most appropriate word. The smell of months old ichor, rot, and death pervades the air. As he awakens, viscous slime crawls over Xaphnos’ hands, knees, elbows, and legs; it grabs at his chest and lurches sickeningly toward his face. With a start he stumbles haphazardly backward, sloshing through muck over a foot deep. Suddenly recognition lights over his face. The Swamp of Fears. One of Kallith’s tricks. Do not believe her lies, friends. Do not believe.

STEVE ROGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA
(Thought narration)
We were so close to becoming heroes. We were so close.
It was to be a baptism by fire – gunfire, hellfire, all the same.
After it was over, we would be remembered by the world as the men that SAVED FREEDOM in the East.

Strange Aeons #1 (Comic Book Script, Complete!)

Strange Aeons
That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons, even Death may die.

PAGE 1
Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City.
Hovering in his personal chambers, steeped in the smoke of many burning herbs and oils, Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme and mystic defender of Earth, meditates on his recent failings in the realms of superheroics. He nearly destroyed the world, and possibly the entire universe when he happened upon the Concordance Engine and unwittingly summoned the Death Celestial. He was unable to stop the Phoenix from claiming the life of Professor Charles Xavier when he teamed with the Avengers against Cyclops. His role in the most recent Thanos catastrophe was shameful to say the least. And while it may seem to be the most insignificant in the grand scheme of things, the loss of Casey Kinmont, who assisted him for short time while he was brought low, still haunted him. Her soul burned brightly yet, but her body had been claimed by magic pact, and Strange himself had been stripped of much of his power to traverse dimensions. A small flicker of orange flame floating inside a klein bottle was what remained of the girl on Earth, a daily reminder for the Doctor of how far he had fallen.

Requiem for a Dream, Chapter One (Superhero Fiction in Progress)

For Wrath and For Ruin

The collective unconsciousness is not, as some believe, a sapient force comprised from the enlightenment, experience, and perception of the billions of individual humans on Earth. It is rather a separate dimension, a new world, fashioned from the instincts, desires, and dreams of those people. It is the Mindscape. It is my home. And I have missed it.
I was, for a time, inextricably linked to the mind of the Anglo-Saxon, New Yorker, Tom Callahan – trapped by an old enemy that is by now long deceased. I was shut off from the Mindscape, although as Tom dreamed I could speak with him, even escape into the young man’s Earth. As I once protected the sleeping from dangerous denizens of the Mindscape, I began to protect the waking from the dangers of their own world, fighting crime and heinous supernatural entities. It is a sad irony that the most brave, noble, and virtuous of mankind must hide themselves in costumes and behind masks, but many such souls I counted as friends.
But, well, now I’m… “ free” I suppose is the way to put it. It’s not explicitly important how I got here, what happened to my friends, or to Tom. Nobody needs to hear that story just yet, and truthfully I do not wish to tell it. Stick with me long enough and maybe… someday I will. No, the important thing is that I’m home now – and it’s ruined! And whoever did it will pay.

The Scavenger (Short Story)

The Scavenger

Written by Braden Michael Kittle

I wake just as I have many mornings of late to the chorus of blasting and screaming that fills the morning air with something like terror. Something like it because it's something I've forgotten how to fear. It's become so much a part of my life that I no longer remember the song of the early bird or the silence of the gentle sunlight that had once shook me unwilling from my dreams. I fling my lead cloak to one side - the blanket that has kept my life a secret for so many months now. The patchwork of stolen dentist's aprons, ER scrubs, and army fatigues falls heavily behind me looking like a cape.
